Republican Governor Greg Abbott of Texas has sent another busload of migrants from his state to a liberal part of the country.
On Saturday, the office of Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass confirmed that roughly 50 migrants, which included 18 minors, arrived in the downtown section of the city late in the morning. Around 11:30 a.m., the two buses arrived at the city’s Union Station.
This is all part of Abbott’s plan to relocate the migrants that are coming into the country through Texas to liberal cities in the U.S. that back President Joe Biden’s lax immigration policies.
In a statement, Bass’ office said:
“The city has continued to work with city departments, the county and a coalition of non-profit organizations, in addition to our faith partners, to execute a plan set in place earlier this year.”
After the migrants arrived in Los Angeles, they were transported over to Cathedral High School, where they underwent a full medical evaluation before being given food and access to other resources that they may have needed.
Since that time, the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights confirmed almost all of the migrants have reunited with their family members. Most of the migrants have already established an asylum case.
Texas already sent a bus full of migrants to Los Angeles back in June, and many other buses have been sent there since. In the last 10 days alone, there have been three different sets of migrant buses sent from Texas to Los Angeles.
Abbott isn’t shy about taking credit for the buses, either. He already confirmed that he’s responsible for this latest trip.
He has also sent buses full of migrants to sanctuary cities throughout the country over the last year, which includes Washington, D.C., Chicago and New York City.
The people who are leading these cities have committed to not enforcing the federal government’s immigration laws and have said they will continue to protect illegal immigrants. Yet, over the last few months, they’ve said that their cities don’t have the sufficient resources to take on more migrants.
That’s exactly the point that Abbott is trying to make by sending the migrants out of his state. Texas doesn’t have the resources to deal with the migrants either, yet they have no choice but to do so because they are located along the southern border with Mexico.
The Biden administration’s lax immigration policies have basically invited illegal immigrants to flock to the border and come to the U.S. so that they can claim asylum status and then try to stay here. That means that Texas and other border states have to do with the huge influx of these migrants.
Abbott has said in the past that his state will continue relocating the migrants to other liberal cities until the Biden administration does something to fix the ongoing immigration crisis that’s happening along the southern border.
