Biden Has A Special Request For Nancy Pelosi

(NewsGlobal.com)- Fox News reported last week that after the midterm elections results started coming in, President Joe Biden reportedly called Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi to ask her to stay on for his last two years in office.

Biden allegedly told Pelosi that he knows “it’s family first, but I hope you stick.”

In a statement to Fox News, Pelosi’s press secretary Drew Hammill said the Speaker hasn’t made any decision about her future and would not do so until “all the votes have been counted.” Hammill emphasized that Pelosi wasn’t “even thinking about her future at this moment,” adding that she would make her announcement when she makes it.

Hammill closed his statement by adding, in the meantime, “let’s all enjoy watching Kevin McCarthy lose a speakership his party hasn’t even won in the first place.”

He should have left that part out.

Two days later, the Republicans officially secured the House majority.

The following day, Speaker Pelosi announced that she would not seek reelection to the Democrat leadership.

Speaking from the floor of the House on Thursday, Pelosi said she would remain a member of the House and serve out her term in the new Congress, but she would not run for a leadership position.

Pelosi said during her 14-minute speech that it was time for “a new generation” to lead the Democrat House caucus. She expressed her gratitude for those who are “ready and willing to shoulder this awesome responsibility.”

Last Monday, the House Republican conference nominated Kevin McCarthy as their candidate for Speaker of the House by a secret ballot vote of 188 to 31.

As the GOP candidate, McCarthy is the favorite to become Speaker since Republicans currently hold 221 seats and a candidate for speaker has to win 218 votes to secure the gavel.
