(NewsGlobal.com)- A man from Ross, Pittsburgh, is in custody after allegedly traveling to a park in Allegheny County where he planned to meet a 12-year-old girl for sex.
According to court documents, 40-year-old Vikash Mishra spoke online with an undercover FBI agent posing as a 12-year-old girl. The man sent private messages to the fake account and engaged in conversation with the FBI agent for several months.
The court documents show that Mishra told the young girl that he was ten years younger than he really was, and insisted that their “relationship” should be kept a secret. He gradually groomed the “girl” over a period of time, regularly engaging in sexual conversations with her and sending sexually explicit photographs.
He then asked the girl to share her address, and the agent gave him an address in Shaler where he agreed to meet in February. When Mishra arrived at the park, FBI agents took him into custody.
WPXI News spoke to local residents about the sting, asking them how they feel about a pedophile being taken off the streets.
One resident, Linda Huston, said that the neighborhood is “very good” and that she has lived there for 30 years without any trouble.
“It’s great that they caught him and no little kids were harmed, that would be just awful,” she said.
Mishra reportedly told the FBI agents that he was planning to meet with the girl in the park to engage in sexual activity but not sexual intercourse.
