Chris Wallace Tries and Fails to Take Jab at Tucker Carlson

Chris Wallace thinks he’s a tough guy. During an interview on television, Wallace bragged that he’s employed and Tucker Carlson isn’t…even though Carlson has a wildly successful network of his own.

At a glance:

  • Chris Wallace, now at CNN, made a rare dig at former Fox colleague Tucker Carlson during an appearance on MSNBC.
  • Wallace noted that he is still employed, while Carlson “really isn’t” after his dismissal from Fox following the Dominion Voting Systems lawsuit.
  • Wallace criticized Fox for prioritizing what their audience wanted to hear over sticking to the truth, ultimately leading to their $787 million settlement.

In a recent interview on MSNBC’s The Beat, Chris Wallace took a swipe at his former Fox News colleague Tucker Carlson, highlighting the contrast in their current careers. Wallace, who now works at CNN, was asked by host Ari Melber about criticisms from Carlson and Laura Ingraham, which surfaced during Dominion Voting Systems’ lawsuit against Fox. The lawsuit revealed private messages from Carlson and Ingraham expressing frustration with Wallace and the Fox News division following the 2020 election, as some hosts pushed election-rigging claims.

Wallace’s response was pointed, stating, “I’m employed and Tucker really isn’t anymore.” Carlson was let go by Fox shortly after the network settled the Dominion lawsuit for $787.5 million. Wallace added that after the 2020 election, Fox shifted its focus, prioritizing appeasing its audience rather than sticking to factual reporting. He remarked that Fox’s decision to promote misinformation about the election led to severe consequences, including the hefty settlement. Wallace said he was “not unhappy” that Fox had to pay for its actions.

Carlson, meanwhile, has been hosting his show on X (formerly Twitter), where his guests have included controversial figures – and he’s brought in viewership figures that Fox News and others could only dream of.

Who is the real loser here?
