(NewsGlobal.com)- When reporting on the deal between West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer last week, CNN’s Jake Tapper described the deal as welcome news for Democrats who have failed to pass a single marquee bill this year.
For months, Senator Manchin had balked at a massive tax and spending bill at a time when inflation is at a 40-year high. But last Wednesday, Manchin caved, agreeing to a framework on “climate change” spending and taxation laughably named “The Inflation Reduction Act.”
The bill, which adds hundreds of billions in new spending and raises taxes on pretty much everybody, will not reduce inflation at all. Instead, it is far more likely that the added influx of cash into the economy will further heat up our already overheated inflation.
But for some reason, Joe Manchin, the man who once worried about inflation, is all-in.
When the news of the deal broke during Wednesday’s broadcast of “The Lead,” host Jake Tapper announced the news by saying there is “some reason for hope” that the Democrats might achieve a legislative win.
Hope for whom?
The Democrats? Or Jake Tapper?
Or are they the same thing?
