(NewsGlobal.com)- Not only are the Democrats heading towards potentially catastrophic losses in the 2022 midterms, but far-left House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is at risk of losing her leadership position in the party.
A new poll from Punchbowl News just revealed that a mere 20% of Democratic Capitol Hill staffers think that Nancy Pelosi should stay on after this year’s midterm elections. It’s bad news for Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, too, who was included in the questioning.
That’s just one-fifth of staffers on Capitol Hill who think that these two big faces and names within their party should remain in their leadership positions.
The survey is particularly interesting, too, as the staffers gave their answers completely anonymously – meaning that they spoke their minds without fear of repercussions from high-up members of the Democratic Party on Capitol Hill.
A further 17% of respondents said that Democratic Party leadership in Congress should only be changed if the party performs well in this year’s midterm elections – which is still bad news for Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer given how the Democrats are on track to lose big in both the House and the Senate this year.
Republicans are already on track to take the five additional seats they need to take control of the House of Representatives, and all it takes is a single Senate victory to take back control of that chamber too.
Punchbowl also reported that 28% of Republican aides on Capitol Hill believe that House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell should be replaced regardless of how well the Republicans do in the midterm elections this year.
After years of whipping her party into line, Pelosi is finally facing pushback.
