On Wednesday, Texas state troopers arrested a group of 101 illegal immigrants near the U.S.-Mexico border, including 25 unaccompanied children. The apprehensions occurred in Eagle Pass, a border town in Texas. According to Lt. Chris Olivarez of the Texas Department of Public Safety, 29 adults were arrested on charges of criminal trespass.
The illegal immigrants came from a range of countries, including Colombia, Honduras, Venezuela, El Salvador, and Brazil. After their arrests, the individuals were taken to the Val Verde Center Processing center, while family groups and the 25 unaccompanied children, aged between 3 and 15, were referred to U.S. Border Patrol.
The arrests underscore the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement at the U.S.-Mexico border, as increasing numbers of migrants, including vulnerable unaccompanied minors, continue to attempt entry into the U.S.
