Elon Musk Unveils New Battleplans To Take On Woke AI

(NewsGlobal.com)- It was reported on Monday that in recent weeks, Elon Musk has been speaking with researchers about creating a new artificial intelligence research lab to develop an alternative to the popular AI tool, ChatGPT.

According to The Information, Musk recruited Igor Babuschkin, a top artificial intelligence researcher who worked at both OpenAI and Alphabet’s DeepMind AI unit, to head up the research lab.

Musk reportedly considers OpenAI’s ChatGPT an example of “training AI to be woke,” The Information reported.

Shortly after ChatGPT was launched last November, Musk, who co-founded OpenAI, warned on Twitter about the danger of “woke” artificial intelligence. He argued that he founded the nonprofit OpenAI to serve as “an open source” to counter Google, but it has since become a “closed source, maximum profit company” controlled by Microsoft, which was not what Musk intended.

In January, Microsoft, which previously invested in OpenAI, announced that it would expand its partnership with the firm by investing billions of dollars into the company.

Last month, Forbes reported that Microsoft was launching a new version of its Bing search engine using the same technology behind ChatGPT in search queries.

In February, Musk warned about the unrestricted development of artificial intelligence, which he described as posing a significant threat to civilization, the New York Post reported.

During a virtual appearance at the Dubai World Government Summit last month, Musk said while artificial intelligence “has great promise,” it also “comes with great danger.” He compared the advent of AI to the “discovery of nuclear physics,” explaining that nuclear physics brought civilization both nuclear power and nuclear weapons.

Musk called for AI safety regulations similar to the regulations on other technology like cars, medicine, and aircraft. He explained that regulatory oversight of artificial intelligence could be far more important since it is “a bigger risk to society.”

Musk no longer holds a stake in OpenAI, nor is he involved in its operations after founding the company with his former business partner Peter Thiel.
