Nicolle Wallace’s Appeal to Bush
A former Bush communications director, Nicolle Wallace, is making headlines for encouraging George W. Bush to support current Vice President Kamala Harris against former President Donald Trump. Wallace’s appeal stems from recent comments by Trump, targeting Republican Congresswoman Liz Cheney. Trump’s remarks, described by some as intimidating, have pushed Wallace to call for a bipartisan stand against his rhetoric.
More neo-cons for Harris!
Liz Cheney has been vocal about Trump’s language, viewing it as an example of how “dictators destroy free nations.”
Yeah, ok.
But Liz, unfortunately, is not alone; her father, former Vice President Dick Cheney, shares her sentiments.
“Donald Trump is the greatest threat to our republic,” Dick Cheney claimed, aligning with other neo-con Republicans supporting Harris in their opposition to Trump.

George W. Bush’s Position
Despite calls from Wallace, George W. Bush has not endorsed any candidate in the current political climate. His spokesperson reiterated Bush’s retirement from presidential politics, maintaining his distance from the ongoing campaigns. Bush did attend Trump’s inauguration in 2017, where he allegedly made a critical remark about the event, indicating potential underlying disagreements with Trump’s approach.
“These are the comments we’re talking about right now in the United States of America from someone running to hold the job he had,” Nicolle Wallace remarked, highlighting the national discourse on Trump’s rhetoric.
Barbara Pierce Bush, George W.’s daughter, has not followed her father’s neutral stance. She is actively campaigning for Kamala Harris, even joining Harris trail events in Pennsylvania. Barbara’s advocacy marks a significant political move, especially given her historical non-alignment with major political parties. Her endorsement of Harris indicates a generational shift within the Bush family regarding support for women’s rights and progressive issues.
A Bush endorsement of Harris would be newsworthy. But I really am hard pressed to imagine that there is a single American voter who would say, “I wasn’t going to vote for Kamala Harris, but, wow, when I found out George W. Bush was for her, that changed everything…” https://t.co/fi4wW6zJxu

Republican Support for Harris
Besides Barbara Pierce Bush, a growing number of former Bush administration officials and notable GOP figures are backing Kamala Harris. Among them are high-profile individuals like Dick Cheney and Liz Cheney, as well as former Trump staffers. They join a broader coalition of Republicans who view Trump’s potential return as a threat to democratic values.
But these are old, neo-con Republicans who already don’t align with the goals and agenda of the modern Republican party…so it’s not like Trump-aligned Republicans even care at this point.
