(NewsGlobal.com)- Former President Donald Trump might see a 2024 challenger in New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu, according to Mediaite. The Republican governor reportedly spoke about his future plans to Politico, saying that the party should not be “defined by Hunter Biden’s laptop.”
Sununu has neither ruled out the presidency nor running for another term as governor, adding that his running will not “encourage” Republicans to “skip” the state in the primaries.
He said that candidates are not going to skip South Carolina just because Nikki Haley or Tim Scott runs, and they won’t stay away from Florida just because Marco Rubio, Ron DeSantis, and Rick Scott might run.
“No, no, no, no, no, no. You still got to go earn it state to state, regardless of who’s in the race,” he said.
Sununu said that he has already been offered support as a prospective candidate. He also said that while Hunter Biden’s laptop should be investigated, it should not define the party. The comment comes after Elon Musk uncovered the “Twitter files,” which showed internal communication between employees at Twitter that worked to suppress the Hunter Biden laptop story originally published by The New York Post.
Upon hearing the news, Trump took to his social media platform to suggest that certain parts of the Constitution be terminated to deal with the rampant fraud in the 2020 election. Republicans such as Mitt Romney and John Kennedy rebuked the former president for suggesting that.
Sununu spoke about President Biden and suggested that Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg challenge him in 2024. He said that Buttigieg did very well in New Hampshire and would probably do well again, adding that he should ignore delegates, “get the free press, be the guy, and drive forward.”
