(NewsGlobal.com)- Amid rumors that failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is preparing for another shot at the presidency in 2024, reports just revealed that she is planning to speak at the New York State Democratic Party convention this week.
People familiar with the matter told CNBC that Clinton would be in attendance, representing some of the most influential politicians in New York. However, Jay Jacobs, the chairman of the New York State Democratic Party did not confirm her attendance.
Are they trying to make it a surprise?
A representative for Jacobs told the press that they had “reached out to a number of people to speak” and that they are waiting to hear back from many of them.
When asked specifically about Clinton, the representative said that they would not comment on who they had reached out to.
Clinton is not from New York, but she did previously serve as a senator for the state of New York.
The fact that Clinton is re-entering politics in such a public way is interesting. President Joe Biden’s approval ratings continue to stagnate at somewhere between 30 and 40 percent, and Vice President Kamala Harris is the least popular vice president in modern history.
And to top it off, the polls show that the Democrats could well lose control of both the House of Representatives and the Senate in the 2022 midterms.
Hillary Clinton has recognized this decline, too, and recently warned that Democrats need to start thinking about what wins elections.
“I think that it is a time for some careful thinking about what wins elections, and not just in deep-blue districts where a Democrat and a liberal Democrat, or so-called progressive Democrat, is going to win,” Clinton said back in December.
We’ll wait and see what she says at the convention, if she does indeed turn up.
