Illegal Migrant Arrested in Hit-and-Run Case That Killed Young Musician

Yet again, an illegal alien is accused of causing the death of an American citizen. Pennsylvania law enforcement has arrested a man suspected of fleeing from a hit-and-run car accident that left 23-year-old musician Christian Sluka dead.

The fatal crash took place the evening of Saturday, September 21, in Allegheny County. Motorists called 911 to report that a car struck a motorcycle at 11 pm. The suspect, 25-year-old Saul Rivera-Ramirez, was allegedly driving a red Ford when he struck the motorcycle on which Sluka was riding and then ran away from the scene on foot.

The Philadelphia office of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) told news media that Rivera-Ramirez was an illegal alien who has been deported once already in the past. According to an ICE statement, the man “unlawfully re-entered” the U.S. It is not clear what country Rivera-Ramirez originally came from.

The same ICE office said they had placed what is called an “Immigration Detainer” on the suspect, who is now being held in the Allegheny County Jail. But ICE said bluntly that they don’t believe the jail will cooperate with them “given its current policies.” While this is not a detailed statement, it is a safe assumption that ICE is implying that the Allegheny County Jail is treating illegal aliens as those it must give “sanctuary” to.

So-called “sanctuary cities” and “sanctuary states” are those, always governed by Democrats and progressives, that refuse to turn over illegal immigrants to federal customs officials. Proponents of sanctuary policies appear to believe that any foreign national who breaks into the U.S. should be protected, and that it is an act of abuse to deport them from the country.

The Center for Immigration Studies keeps an updated list of sanctuary states and cities.

Ramirez-Rivera is charged with vehicular homicide and driving without a license. Further charges may be filed.

Christian Sluka’s family posted on Facebook that they had lost a “son, brother, cousin, nephew, and friend.”

They described Sluka as a “selfless, hardworking” man with talent. Sluka was a bass guitar player for the band “Osprey.”
