(NewsGlobal.com)- Over the weekend, Texas Senator Ted Cruz appeared on Fox News Channel’s “Sunday Morning Futures” with host Maria Bartiromo where he criticized President Biden’s vow to nominate a black woman to the Supreme Court.
Calling Biden’s decision a “racial quota,” Cruz said it is wrong to discriminate based on race. He suggested that if Fox News put an ad in the paper looking for a new producer for “Sunday Morning Futures” and added “only black women are eligible to apply,” the ad would violate federal civil rights law.
And while Cruz admits that civil rights laws don’t “technically apply” to the president’s nomination process, “he is certainly violating the spirit of nondiscrimination.”
Cruz said if Biden were to keep his options open only to discover that the most qualified applicant happened to be a black woman, “that’s wonderful.” But that isn’t what Biden is doing. Instead, Cruz said, Biden “wants to discriminate based on race.”
Then Cruz pointed out that it was Joe Biden who twice filibustered a black woman, Janice Rogers Brown, to try and block her confirmation after George W. Bush nominated her to the DC Circuit Court of Appeals.
Cruz also noted that Biden wasn’t the only Democrat to do so, noting that Chuck Schumer and Dick Durbin joined Biden in trying to block Janice Rogers Brown because she was an originalist who “believed in the Constitution.”
Cruz argued that Biden doesn’t just want a “left-wing ideologue;” he wants to discriminate based on race because the Democrat Party supports racial discrimination.
