Kairi Sane Suffers Injury While Attempting a Dangerous Move During RAW

WWE wrestler Kairi Sane laid down some moves in a match on Monday Night RAW that left her with a cut above her eyes..

This style of wrestling is as much art and theater as it is a sport, and viewers tune in to see outrageous moves. They got an eyeful on Monday when Sane matched up against The Unholy Union (Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn) for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship.

In a leap during the match Sane misjudged and gashed her forehead on the edge of a table, leaving a cut above her eye. It wasn’t immediately clear what happened, but people saw Sane’s face covered in blood. Apparently she started yelling directly at wrestlers Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill, who are the two WWE Women’s Tag Champions.

The WWE medical team gave Sane a onceover and pronounced her fit to continue playing. Later she posted a photo on social media showing her wound and used a thumbs-up emoji to indicate that she was OK.

Sane followed that up with a longer post showing the stitches above her eye and joking that she needed an eye patch. Well, it would fit with her Pirate Princess character and would almost certainly be a fan favorite.

Wrestly SKY backed up Sane, saying she was proud of her tag team partner, and that “Kairi Sane” is insanely tough!”

Sane started out in wrestling with the group World Wonder Ring Stardom (now just “Stardom”) performing under the state name Kairi Hojo. She spent six years with the group and topped the Wonder of Stardom Championship, the World of Stardom Championship, and a number of other tag team titles.

By 2017 Sane made her debut with the WWE and won the Mae Young Classic tournament. Two years later she teamed up with WWE Friday Night Smackdown as a member of the Kabuki Warriors with Asuka.

Asuka and Sane won the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship twice and have the record for holding the top place for the longest at 180 days.
