Megyn Kelly Mocks New MLK Statue By Saying What We’re All Thinking

(NewsGlobal.com)- Last weekend, Boston unveiled its $10 million sculpture dedicated to Martin Luther King and his wife Coretta Scott King called “The Embrace” prompting harsh criticism on social media and from members of the King family, with many suggesting it looked like a penis.

In a scathing column at Compact mag, Coretta Scott King’s cousin Seneca Scott said they wasted $10 million “to create a masturbatory metal homage to my legendary family members.”

Scott later told the New York Post that while the media reported on how beautiful the sculpture was, “a little boy pointed out, ‘That’s a penis!” and everyone was like, ‘Yo, that’s a big old dong, man.’”

The sculpture, which was approved by Martin Luther King III, was designed by conceptual artist Hank Willis Thomas. The funding for the project was raised through a public/private fundraising partnership, according to the city of Boston. However, it is unclear how much of that $10 million came from public money.

During the Monday broadcast of her SiriusXM radio show, host Megyn Kelly and her guests Rich Lowry and Charles C.W. Cooke lit into the appalling sculpture as well.

Kelly bluntly said the sculpture looks like “a giant penis being held by two hands.”

Lowry added that this is one reason why you should run things by “people close to you,” jokingly adding, “What do you think of the design, honey? Well, it looks like a schlong dear.”

Lowry also suggested that the capacity to “create public beauty” has been lost. He said not one piece of public art made in the last 50 years “has been beautiful or uplifting.”

Lowry noted that Michelangelo created his David 500 years ago. And now, 500 years later, even with all of the technical advances we have made, “that’s all we can do.”
