Morning Joe Host Says “Republicans Aren’t Smart Enough”

(Newsglobal.com)- On Thursday, Attorney General Garland announced that he had appointed a special counsel to investigate the classified documents found at Biden’s Wilmington home and in an office at the Penn Biden Center in Washington.

The AG’s announcement came after the White House acknowledged Thursday morning that, in addition to the classified documents found in the president’s garage, classified documents were also found in Biden’s home office.

Garland has appointed Robert Hur, the former Trump-appointed US Attorney in Maryland. Hur will take over from the top DOJ prosecutor in Chicago, John Lausch, who had previously been assigned by the DOJ to investigate the classified documents found.

On Friday, while discussing the appointment of Robert Hur, “Morning Joe” co-host Mika Brzezinski suggested that Republican lawmakers can’t tell the difference between the special counsel investigations of Biden and former President Donald Trump.

Brzezinski played a clip of South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham last September suggesting that if Trump is prosecuted for his mishandling of classified documents after Hillary Clinton’s “debacle,” there would be “riots in the streets.”

She followed up that clip with one from last week when Senator Graham called for a special counsel to investigate Biden. In the clip, Graham said appointing a special counsel was “in the best interest of the country.”

Brzezinski mocked Graham’s comment, asking “Where did that come from?”

Brzezinski claimed that Republicans “constantly” downplay classified documents being “in private hands” until “the shoe was placed on the other foot.” She suggested that “the Trump shoe” was “much bigger and entirely different” than Biden’s because of his “willful intent to obstruct.”

Brzezinski claimed that “many Republicans aren’t smart enough to figure that out.” She added that Garland appointing a special counsel to investigate Biden will “actually make it more likely the DOJ moves on Trump.”

She dismissed Biden’s mishandling of classified documents as “sloppy,” adding that “in the end,” what Trump did was worse because of his “willful intent to obstruct.”
