Newly Released Bodycam Footage Shows Aftermath of Model’s Crash

Newly released body camera footage shows the moments after Instagram model Maecee Marie Lathers was involved in a car crash that left two people dead in Miami. Lathers, 24, is now facing 15 felony charges, including vehicular homicide, reckless driving, and DUI manslaughter, for the crash that occurred on August 10.

The collision claimed the lives of Abraham Molina and Jesus Rubio, while Molina’s fiancée, Juanita Hernandez, was left injured. Lathers has attributed the accident to her use of a popular party drug known as “pink cocaine,” with toxicology reports confirming a mixture of drugs in her system, according to NBC Miami.

Footage obtained by Local 10 shows Lathers topless and screaming, writhing in pain on the ground just moments after the accident. According to police reports, she was driving with a suspended license when she sped through a red light at nearly 80 mph in her white Mercedes-Benz, crashing into a black Range Rover and a silver Suzuki.

The arrest report details how the first victim had to be extricated from his vehicle but later died at the hospital, while the other victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Lathers and Hernandez were the only survivors of the crash.

Witnesses at the scene reported that Lathers was found vomiting shortly after the wreck. She allegedly told police that a mix of drugs, including ketamine, made her believe she was from the future. Bystanders had to restrain her to prevent her from fleeing the scene.

Records obtained by NBC6 indicate that Lathers was traveling at about 57 mph five seconds before the crash but accelerated to 78 mph at the moment of impact. After her arrest, Lathers admitted to taking “Tusi,” also known as “pink cocaine,” before getting behind the wheel. This drug, a mix of substances like ketamine, MDMA, methamphetamine, and cocaine, is increasingly popular in certain social circles.

Following her initial arrest in August, Lathers was released on house arrest. However, during a recent court appearance, prosecutors requested that she be detained until her trial, adding two more DUI manslaughter charges to the case. Lathers has pleaded not guilty to all charges and is currently being held in county jail, with a bond hearing scheduled for September 16.
