Trump declares economic war on the world with sweeping tariffs, telling Americans: “We will tax foreign countries to enrich our citizens” instead of the other way around.
At a Glance
- President Trump announced “Liberation Day” with Executive Orders establishing reciprocal tariffs of at least 10% on all imports, with 20% for EU nations
- Trump framed the initiative as “our declaration of economic independence” aimed at bringing manufacturing back to America
- Economists warn the tariffs could increase consumer prices, potentially triggering inflation and economic stagnation
- The sweeping tariffs are among the most extensive in modern U.S. history, potentially surpassing the 1930 Smoot-Hawley tariffs
America’s Economic Declaration of Independence
Finally, a President with the courage to acknowledge what’s been happening to America for decades. President Trump’s new “Liberation Day” tariffs represent what should have been done years ago – standing up to foreign countries that have been taking advantage of our open markets while restricting access to theirs.
From the White House Rose Garden, Trump signed executive orders implementing reciprocal tariffs on imported goods, applying a minimum 10% tariff across the board with higher rates for nations that have been particularly aggressive in their unfair trade practices. This bold move aims to level the playing field that has been tilted against American workers and businesses for far too long.
As Trump plainly stated during his announcement, “April 2nd, 2025, will forever be remembered as the day American industry was reborn.” It’s about time we had a leader willing to call out the economic pillaging that’s been occurring under the guise of “free trade.”
For decades, establishment politicians from both parties have stood by while our manufacturing base was hollowed out and shipped overseas. Meanwhile, other countries have been charging massive tariffs on American goods while enjoying nearly unrestricted access to our markets. The era of American economic subjugation is finally coming to an end with these reciprocal tariffs.
Trump Calls It ‘Liberation Day’—But Will His Tariff Push Work?
Trump is calling today “Liberation Day” as he prepares to announce a wave of new tariffs—with no exceptions. His supporters will likely share and celebrate the move online.

Ending Decades of Economic Exploitation
President Trump didn’t mince words when he described the economic reality many Americans have felt for years: “For decades, our country has been looted, pillaged, raped and plundered by nations near and far, both friend and foe alike. American steelworkers, autoworkers, farmers and skilled craftsmen, we have a lot of them here with us today, they really suffered gravely.”
“They watched in anguish as foreign leaders have stolen our jobs. Foreign cheaters have ransacked our factories, and foreign scavengers have torn apart our once beautiful American dream.” This isn’t hyperbole – it’s the painful truth about what globalist policies have done to working-class Americans.
“Instead of taxing our citizens to enrich other countries, we will tariff and tax foreign countries to enrich our citizens”, says Donald Trump.
The left is already shrieking about potential price increases and trade wars, but they conveniently ignore that we’ve been in a one-sided trade war for decades – one where America has been consistently losing. Trump’s approach is refreshingly simple: “Reciprocal – that means, they do it to us, and we do it to them.
Very simple, can’t get any simpler than that.” Why should countries like China be allowed to impose massive tariffs on American goods while we let their products flood our markets with minimal fees? It’s economic madness that only benefits multinational corporations and foreign manufacturers at the expense of American workers.

The Predictable Global Panic
The international reaction to Trump’s announcement has been predictable – panic and threats. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz is already talking about “independence from the USA,” as if economic fairness is somehow an attack on their sovereignty. Meanwhile, Wall Street and liberal economists are warning of doom and gloom, just as they did during Trump’s first term before he delivered one of the strongest economies in American history. What these critics fail to understand is that America’s economy can’t be healthy when we’re hemorrhaging manufacturing jobs and running massive trade deficits year after year.
Trump concludes: “This is one of the most important days, in my opinion, in American history. It’s our declaration of economic independence. For years, hardworking American citizens were forced to sit on the sidelines as other nations got rich and powerful, much of it at our expense”.
The same financial “experts” who cheered the outsourcing of American jobs now claim that bringing those jobs back will somehow harm our economy. These are the same geniuses who’ve overseen decades of stagnant wages for working Americans while the financial sector and multinational corporations reaped massive profits. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent gets it right when he says, “I’m less concerned about the short term. We’ve got strategic industries that we’ve got to have. We want to protect the American worker, and a lot of these trade deals haven’t been fair.” The short-term pain of economic adjustment is worth the long-term gain of rebuilding American manufacturing and protecting our economic sovereignty.
