(NewsGlobal.com)- According to a new book, Rudy Giuliani spent time healing at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago property after he lost the 2008 Republican presidential primary. Giuliani reportedly grew sad and started drinking frequently following the loss.
The former New York mayor’s wife, Judith Giuliani, claims in the book Giuliani: The Rise and Tragic Fall of America’s Mayor that her then-husband broke down following his lost presidential campaign.
Judith Giuliani claims that she and Rudy moved into Mar-a-Lago and Donald kept their secret. She claims that after withdrawing from the presidential race after a string of disappointing primary and caucus results, her husband experienced what, she knew as a nurse, was “a severe depression.”
She claimed he started to drink more heavily. She said Giuliani enjoyed smoking cigars and sipping scotch while holding court at the Grand Havana or Club Mac, but his friends never considered him a problem drinker.
Judith speculates that he was drinking to numb the pain.
The former mayor’s third wife, Judith Giuliani, was “known to exaggerate, and the depth of his despair is something that only she and Giuliani understood for certain,” according to the book’s author, Andrew Kirtzman.
The couple relocated into a bungalow across the street from Mar-a-Lago when Trump visited his longtime buddy and utilized an underground tunnel to enter and exit the club secretly. Following several allegations, Rudy Giuliani has repeatedly denied having a drinking issue.
Reporters Carol Leonnig and Philip Rucker claimed that “some people feared Giuliani may have been drinking too much” on election night in 2020 when he advised Trump to announce he had won. This was claimed in their book “I Alone Can Fix It: Donald J. Trump’s Catastrophic Final Year.”
Additionally, testifying before the House Select Committee on January 6 was Jason Miller, a senior adviser to Trump’s 2020 reelection campaign. Giuliani refuted Miller’s claim that he was “clearly inebriated” on election night.
According to Judith Giuliani’s account in Kirtzman’s book, she and her husband spent time in Mar-a-Lago when he was “always falling s***faced somewhere.”
She claims that the make-up her husband was sporting “barely disguised a huge scar above his right eyebrow” that he sustained from falling while stepping out of a car. This happened when he eventually entered the public eye with an appearance on Saturday Night Live.
Few details about Rudy Giuliani’s time at the Mar-a-Lago resort have been reported.
Giuliani stated to The New York Times in 2018 that he “spent a month at Mar-a-Lago, unwinding” in 2008 following his unsuccessful presidential attempt.
