In an ironic turn, the Biden White House is coming down on X (Twitter) owner Elon Musk, calling his question about assassinations and Kamala Harris “irresponsible.”
The Biden administration, including President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and countless top Democrats, have spent years calling Donald Trump a danger and a threat to “our democracy.” Given that Trump was the target of a second assassination attempt in just two months this past Sunday, many are pointing out that the Democrat rhetoric demonizing Trump may be giving encouragement and cover to lunatics who want to murder the 45th President.
Others, perhaps including Elon Musk, are starting to speculate about whether the U.S. government itself may in some way be involved in these multiple attempts on Trump’s life. On his platform X, Musk posted “And no one is even trying to assassinate Biden or Kamala.”
The White House immediately went into scolding mode, sending out spokesman Andrew Bates to repeat the common line, “there is no place for political violence. . .ever in our country.” In reality, there seem to be very many places for violence in American political life if you are a candidate running as a Republican for president.
Bates continued, stating that everyone must “do our part” to ensure that the latest “incident” against Trump “does not lead to more violence.” Bates made no remarks about the increasingly hysterical Democrat characterizations of Donald Trump as a figure of singular evil comparable to Adolf Hitler.
Users on X were divided about Musk’s remarks, with some supporting his implication that the White House may know more than it’s saying, while others echoed the Biden administration’s view and castigated the billionaire for “irresponsible” rhetoric. Musk was not backing down. He responded to critics by saying that Biden and Harris are “the machine,” and that Donald Trump is the threat to the machine.
In the end, Musk decided to take down his tweets, perhaps realizing there was no way to “clarify” them that would stop the outrage mob.
