PANIC?!: Brazen Attack on Border Agent

An illegal immigrant with an outstanding warrant for separate violent crimes shot an off-duty Border Patrol agent in the face during a botched robbery attempt in Manhattan, as federal agents nationwide now cover their faces in public to avoid harassment and attacks.

A Predictable Tragedy Fueled by a Broken System

Another American hero is fighting for his life because our immigration and justice systems are catastrophically broken. Miguel Mora, a 21-year-old from the Dominican Republic, allegedly shot an off-duty Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officer in the face and arm during an attempted robbery in a Manhattan park on July 19.

The agent, who was with a female companion, heroically returned fire and wounded his attacker as the suspects fled on a moped. But here’s the kicker that should make your blood boil: Mora was already a wanted man. According to the NYPD, he had active warrants for a robbery and a felony assault/stabbing in the Bronx. This was a career criminal who should have been behind bars or deported long ago.

A Failure of Both Border and Local Justice

The Department of Homeland Security has confirmed that Mora entered the country illegally in 2023 and was released. He was then allowed to remain in the country, where he proceeded to commit more violent crimes. This is a textbook case of a system that prioritizes the so-called rights of criminal aliens over the safety of American citizens.

“In less than one year, he has inflicted violence in our city,” said Mayor Eric Adams. “And once he is charged for last night’s crimes, we will be able to add attempted murder to his rap sheet.”

Federal Agents Under Siege

This shooting comes on the heels of another attack on a Border Patrol facility in McAllen, Texas, highlighting a clear and dangerous pattern of escalating violence against immigration enforcement officers. The climate of anti-ICE and anti-Border Patrol rhetoric, fueled by progressive politicians, has real-world consequences.

In response to these threats, federal agents are now being authorized to cover their faces in public for their own safety. We have reached a point where our own law enforcement officers must hide their identities like they are operating in a war zone, simply for doing their jobs. This is a direct result of policies that coddle criminals and demonize the brave men and women who protect us.
